Most Common Mental Health Challenges for Seniors

Mental health is an important aspect of overall health and well-being for people of all ages, including those who are 65 and older. However, older adults face a number of unique challenges when it comes to mental health, and it is important to be aware of these challenges in order to provide effective support and care.

One common mental health challenge faced by older adults is the loss of loved ones. As people age, they are more likely to lose friends and family members to illness or natural causes, and this can be a difficult and emotionally challenging experience. Older adults may struggle with grief, sadness, and feelings of loneliness as they cope with these losses, and they may be at an increased risk of developing mental health conditions like depression or anxiety.

Another mental health challenge faced by older adults is the risk of developing cognitive decline or dementia. Cognitive decline is a normal part of the aging process, but for some older adults, this decline can...

A Step In a Healthier Direction

Something I’ve always known to a degree, yet never truly understood was that our bodies are our vessels. They’re the vehicle that drives our spirit around, day in, and day out. I am of the belief that it is extremely important to take care of our vehicle. As I’ve gotten older, that has become more of an all encompassing statement, to where I don’t just mean diet anymore. Personal development and maintenance is a lot like a symphony, all coming together. There are a lot of pieces that all need to be balanced and come together for one to achieve the status of being “healthy”. When I was younger, being active and having involvement in sports was a prerequisite for my existence so, it never really crossed my mind that there may be a reality where my activity level would be in a deficit.

My childhood involved various team sports, as well as racing motocross, skiing on water and snow, you name it, good chance I was doing it. I remember...

An Insurance Plan That Should NOT Be Overlooked: Our Experience

Quotes are powerful statements made to help us connect the dots of reality. It’s a similar ballpark to idioms turned clichés. While some find them to be cheesy, I personally have found them to be helpful for me in life and in business. Some quotes become definitions or formulas to words like power, wealth, and success. For me it was Bobby Unser’s, “success is where preparation and opportunity meet.” Success was always so subjective, leaving me feeling the need to attach numbers or money to success. Bobby’s quote opened up a whole new idea about what success truly meant to me. An idiom turned cliché that has always stayed in the back of my mind is, “hope for the best but prepare for the worst”. It’s always been a saying that’s given me great comfort in times of stress, knowing that I’ve prepared properly. That all came to a head and hit us like a ton of bricks when my wife Stacey was diagnosed...

It was one of those times as a parent that was so special and so exciting. You want it to be absolutely perfect. The special moment in time, where your child decides to get married and follow their dreams with their new spouse. The preparation, the thought, and the emotion that goes into that important day is unlike any other we had experienced as parents to date. One of the greatest moments of my life, one that I will cherish forever, was when my son Justin, and his fiancé, asked me to preside over their wedding nuptials.

As things were starting to cool off from everything going on the last few years, my wife Stacey and I, figured it would be the perfect time to go in and get what should have been simple annual checkups. We went into our visit, got our checkups, and it was business as usual. When the doctor came in to see me, she said something to the effect of, “I just saw your wife and noticed a couple small spots I didn’t like, but we...

The Unrealistic Long Term Care Plan You've Probably Thought Of

insurance long term care Sep 02, 2021

"I spent all those years, all that money, caring for them. The least they could do for me is take care of me in my final days." Those are the words of so many people approaching and currently in retirement. Things constantly change in this business, there's always something new, except for people thinking their kids will be able to be their care givers should they hit the long term care phase of life, that doesn't seem to ever change. So many kids unknowingly set to become care givers just going about their lives, with no interest or experience in care giving, have no idea their parents are signing them up for the worst job they never asked for. Here is why your kids cannot be your plan for long term care.

Let's start breaking this down. In many cases, families start by two people getting married and making the decision together to start having kids. You get to choose when you start trying to bring children into the world. It's a conscious decision between two people, questions...
